As I told, on Friday we (Funi, Janne, Antti (not AJ), Henkka and I)  went to Ocean Park. It is an amusement park with rides, aquariums, dolphinarium etc. We had bought day tickets and Halloween special tickets in advance, which meant a long day of having fun... We were in the park at about 11.30, the Halloween special started at 17.30 and lasted till 24.00.

Ocean Park is built on a very nice peninsula on the south shore of HK island. It consist of two parts, between which you travel by cable-car. The views from the park are and the park itself looks very nice.

The rides are pretty good, but nothing spectacular. The best part was that there were practically no queues at all. Probably the best ride is the Abyss, which is a 60m high free-drop tower. The climbing felt awfull and waiting on top for the drop even worse, but the drop itself was fortunately over very fast. The ride was so horrible that I had to go 3 times =)

The log-river ride was nice, at least if you like getting wet. It is desinged keeping in mind that Chinese are not that hevy. When we packed the log full of western meat, the log swam pretty deep... In the big ending splash we all got totally wet. Even my underpants got wet... But the weather was very hot, so it was only comfortable and cooled down a little.

When the Halloween special started, people started to get in, and the park was getting more and more crowded. Good thing was that more of our friends got in, but the bad was that in fact it got so crowded that it didn't make any sense anymore. The shortest queues were 45min, and the longest over 2 hours... Fortunately the park was nicely decorated and there were people in different Halloween characters on the streets trying to scare you, so you could just wander around the park. We managed to see two of the Halloween special rides. Halloween rides, at least the ones we got into, were actually walk through houses where there were people in different costumes trying to scare you. They came behind a corner or from different hiding places and tried different tricks. It was pretty hilarious, and they even got me once or twise =)

A pirate trying to kill me! The characters were like celebrities, everybody wanted to take pictures with them. They got paid for trying to scare people and doing stupid stunts, dreamjob for a day =)

The crowd and Frankenstain in the middle, he was one of my favorite characters there. Once he climbed over two bench rows near a stage, went sit next to a girl, put his arm above her shoulders and she totally freeked out =)

It would have been very nice, but because of the crowd it was not. There is no limit to the Park owners' greed. Perhaps if they sold 1/3 of the tickets they would probably still make pretty good profit and the queues would be a bit more reasonable.
