Even though many people may think of HK as a urban city, in fact over 60% of the total area is rural. There are lots of country parks and nature reserves. In addition there are many very nice beaches to go and burn yourself, play beachvolley and swim in suprisingly clean ocean. That is exactly what we did on Friday.

So on Friday we (me, Henkka, Jussi and Livia) headed for Hong Kong Island and perhaps the best know beach, Repulse Bay. The weather was wery nice, the sky was not totally cloudless, the temperature was near 30°C and the humidity level was acceptable. On Friday Repulse Bay was nearly deserted, just a few dozen people, but have heard that it can be really growded on weekends. We played some beachvolley and swam in the ocean. (Jussi and Henri lost a three round match against me and Livia! Loo-o-sers!) It was very nice and relaxing. And of course I didn't have any sunlotion, with my very Scandinavian skin (kalkkilaivan kapteeni) I managed to burn myself from nearly everywhere imaginable...

Couple pictures of Repulse Bay:

The thermometer is saying 35°C...

Good looking beachvolley players, ay ;)

How to get there:
Repulse Bay is located on the south shore of HK island, approximately in the middle. Most convenient way to get there is probably a bus from Central. We too a ferry from Hung Hom to Central, and just next to the ferry terminal, minibus number 6. It was in fact a wrong one, because we should have taken normal bus number 6 (or 6x, 260...) The minibus went to the Ocean Park.  Ocean Park is also on the south shore, just a couple km:s west from Repulse Bay. But it was not that bad, we walked by the coastline through Deep Water Bay (a smaller beach) to Repulse Bay, and it was actually a pretty nice walk.
