As I already mentioned, yesterday I went to the Hangzhou Safari Park. It is a zoo, but with some Chinese characteristics. There is an area with normal kind of zoo, where you can wander around freely, and the animals are kept in cages or fences. In addition there is larger area where you ride in a van, and there are pretty large fenced areas for big predators like lions, tigers and cheetahs. There is also a huge area where zeepras, camels, giraffes etc. wander freely among the vans, so you can even touch and feed the animals if you want. One very interesting charasteristic is that you can buy a living chicken if you want, and toss it into a predator fence. Would have costed 30rmb:s but I didn't dare (and neither did anyone in our van, damn =). I heard that they even release sheeps into the fences some times, but didn't see that either. A bit more realistic image of the wildlife for the kids, ay? =)

The park was actually pretty nice and most of the animal cages and fences seemed pretty ok. Not worse than the Finnish ones at least. The park was practically deserted, since I was there during the week. There was a lot more employees than customers =) Probably a bit more growded on weekends. Ticket costed 90rmb + taxi there and a grey "taxi" back  about 45rmb:s/way. So almost 20€ for the visit, but for me it was worth it.

Took plenty of good photos of all kinds of animals, here are a few samples:
